In the reorganisation the district was split in two: Gomati was created with Udaipur as its headquarters, and the new South Tripura district was inaugurated on 6 January 2012 with its headquarters here in Belonia. There is no Gazette counter in Belonia, in Udaipur, in Agartala, or anywhere in Tripura. The file goes to one office in Delhi, so this is the step where being in the far south costs you nothing whatever. Anybody locally offering to file a Central Gazette notice within the state is describing something that does not exist, though preparing papers and sending them to Delhi is legitimate work.
